Cell Phone Marietta High School recognizes that cell phones are a communication tool that parents/guardians use to get messages to their students during the school day. With that being said, cell phones are increasingly becoming a distraction to the educational environment for our student body. As a result of this, Marietta High School has updated our cell phone policy to the following: 1. 7th and 8th grade students are only allowed to use cell phones during lunch. During instructional time, cell phones should be turned off and out of sight in their lockers. Please note that every 7th and 8th grade student will have a new locker with a lock, therefore, all cell phones should remain in their lockers. The only exception is during lunch period. 2. 9th-12th grade students are only allowed to use cell phones during lunch and the hallways. During instructional time, cell phones should be turned off and out of sight, unless students have permission from a teacher or administrator. 3. Unauthorized use of cell phones will result in confiscation of the cell phone. Confiscated phones will be turned into the office. Repeated violations of possessing a cell phone at inappropriate times will result in disciplinary action. 4. If a cell phone is confiscated, the following procedures will take place: 1st Offense- Student Can Pick Up from Office 2nd Offense- Parent will need to pick up cell phone from school. 3rd Offense- Disciplinary Action- 5. Please note that Marietta High School assumes no responsibility for theft, loss, damage, or vandalism of cell phones brought onto school property. To help with this policy, we are asking parents to try to send messages during the appropriate times during the school day based on the student's individual schedule.
