The Junior High Builders Club of Marietta High School is observing Builders Club Week on February 24-28, 2025 with announcements every day informing students and staff about Builders Club, using dress up days to promote interest and recruitment, and hosting a party Tuesday after school during our regularly scheduled meeting. Through this service club, a program of Kiwanis International, students in middle school/junior high learn leadership skills while participating in their community through volunteer service. Students in Builders Club learn how to be leaders while working together, identifying unmet needs and finding solutions to problems in their schools or communities. Students who participate in Builders Club learn valuable skills they can carry with them as they grow. Our youth members, who have traditionally been recipients of service, are now making a positive impact by giving back to the communities that once served them. And that’s why the Builders Club of Marietta High School is so important here.
Locally, our Builders Club, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Marietta, participates in many service projects throughout the school year. Our goal is to commit to one large service project each month, along with other smaller projects throughout the school year. Some of these projects include volunteering at the Gospel Mission Food Pantry, ringing of the bells for the Salvation Army, donating a basket for and volunteering at Kiwanis Pancake Days, and making cards for the elderly in nursing homes. These are just a few of the things we have committed to in the past year.
Builders Club provides a safe place for members to interact while working on projects that benefit others. It gives seventh and eighth graders not only a chance to get involved after school and connect to others but also an opportunity to serve the community and our school. Our members often continue on as Key Club members in high school and Kiwanis members as adults.
Please consider dressing up next week to support the efforts of our Builders Club and getting students involved and excited about acts of service!

Tuesday night Neil Roseberry from Finding Leaders met with several focus groups with key stakeholders for Marietta City School District in regards to the Superintendent search. These groups included representatives from our Administration and Board Members, Ohio Association of Public School Employees representatives (OAPSE), MEA Members and members of the general public.
Those in attendance were given questions that would help uncover what was important to each of them during the process for hiring a new Superintendent for Marietta City School District. Finding Leaders is taking the information gathered from each group and applying it to their search for candidates. We would like to thank each of these individuals for their participation and willingness to help continue to push Marietta City School District towards our goal of providing the best education possible to Every Student, Every Day.
